I'm Dr Tabitha Backhouse, a Clinical Psychologist specialising in the emotional impact of cancer, chronic illness and major life change in adults.

Relevant experience

I work as a clinical psychologist in a cancer team at King's College Hospital, London. During my doctoral training, I spent time at St Bartholomew's Hospital, the Royal London Hospital, and the Mildmay Mission Hospital, where I learned to apply psychological models of care in my work supporting patients with a variety of physical health conditions. I completed my doctoral thesis on the patient experience after a surgical treatment for cancer and the lasting effects of this on their quality of life and mental health.
